King’s Deals Women’s Volleyball 3-1 Setback

ANNVILLE, Pa. – After jumping to a 1-0 lead, the LVC women’s volleyball team lost three close games to visiting King’s College in the Flying Dutchmen’s home opener Wednesday evening in Lynch Gymnasium.

The Valley (5-2) claimed game one 30-28, but lost by scores of 22-30, 21-30 and 24-30 in games two through four, respectively.

King’s stayed perfect at 5-0 with the win.

First-year student Megan Brillhart (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) led the Dutchmen with 13 kills, while senior Kelly Kaufmann (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) posted 18 digs and 44 assists. Junior Sherri Pursel(Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) also recorded a “double-double” with 11 kills and 13 digs, while first-year student Katie Ferree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) hit double figures as well with 17 digs. First-year student Catherine Roth (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) added three blocks and a pair of service aces.

The Valley returns to action on Friday and Saturday when the team travels to the SUNY Cortland Tournament.
