WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – LVC won two of three doubles matches, then posted victories in four of five singles contests to garner a 6-3 victory over King’s College in a MAC non-conference pairing Thursday at Kirby Park.
The Valley recorded its first win of the season to improve to 1-3. The Monarchs fell to 1-3 on the year.
Sophomore Lindsey Noll (Schaefferstown, Pa./ELCO) and junior Kelly Stauffer (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) combined to pick up an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles while sophomore Chris Jessen (Newfield, N.J./Woodstown) and senior Robyn Sotak (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) captured a victory at third doubles.
In singles action, senior Jenelle Zeigler (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) scored a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles. Stauffer and Jessen were triumphant at third and fourth singles, winning by a count of 6-0, 6-3 and 6-0, 7-6 (7-2), respectively. First-year student Yun Kyung Kwon (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) came out on top at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-4 win.
LVC continues its non-league schedule on Monday when the Dutchmen travel to Marywood University for a 3:30 p.m. match.
