SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College softball team suffered two losses to Susquehanna University this afternoon and remained winless in the Commonwealth Conference. The Valley got bumped 14-1 and 5-3 to fall to 13-11 overall and 0-6 in the league. Susquehanna improved to 15-10-1 and 6-4 in the conference.
In the first game, Alli Ackerman went 3-for-3 with four RBI, a double, and one home run to lead Susquehanna to a 14-1 rout over the Valley. Heather Litzebauer pitched five innings and allowed just one run in the first.
Freshman
Ilyse Resnick (Holland, Pa./Council Rock) scored for The Valley off an RBI single by senior
Krissy Wardrop (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown). Senior
Sam Rill (Lebanon, Pa./Annville-Cleona) dropped to 6-6 on the season and allowed six runs in four and a third innings.
In the nightcap, Ackerman cranked a home run in the seventh inning to give the needed edge to the Crusaders. Susquehanna scored once in the fourth, fifth, and sixth and twice in the seventh to pull away from The Valley, which had six hits.
Resnick went 2-for-3 and scored a run in the first inning. Sophomore
Kendra McQuillis (New London, Pa./Avon Grove) and senior
Kendra Atkinson (Olyphant, Pa./Lakeland) also scored runs for the Valley.
Freshman
Jess Cooney (Rockledge, Pa./Abington) fell to 4-4 in the season, while Amy Kleman pitched two innings of relief to pick up the win for Susquehanna.
The Valley plays next at Wilkes University on Tuesday, April 16, in a 3:30 p.m. twin bill.
