SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Leah Bailor scored on a penalty stroke with 26:35 remaining in the game, and second-seeded Susquehanna University captured a 2-1 victory over third-seeded Lebanon Valley in the Commonwealth Conference semifinals Saturday evening at Lopardo Stadium.
LVC (12-8) will now hope for a possible bid into the ECAC Tournament. Pairings will be announced on Monday.
Susquehanna improved to 17-2 with the victory.
Fifteenth-ranked Lebanon Valley took an early 1-0- lead with 16:14 left in the first half when first-year student Crystal Davis (Christiana, Pa./Octorara) deflected in a shot off the stick of senior Sarah Dietrich (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley). But the seventh-ranked Crusaders drew even after Megan Patrono notched an unassisted tally with 9:09 to go in the opening half as the teams entered halftime with the match tied at 1.
Susquehanna out-shot LVC 16-8 and held an 8-6 advantage in penalty corners.
First-year student Carla Reavis (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) made seven saves in goal for the Valley while Katie Hess stopped three shots for the Crusaders.
