CAMPBELLTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore Scott Montgomery (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna) and senior Mike Boger (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) each scored a goal as the LVC men’s soccer team downed Albright 2-1 in a Commonwealth Conference contest Saturday at In the Net Field.
Lebanon Valley improved to 11-4-2 (4-2-1 Commonwealth) while Albright fell to 1-14-2 (0-5-1 Commonwealth).
Montgomery opened the scoring in the 10th minute from the foot of sophomore Brian Sapienza (Manchester, Conn./Manchester). The goal was Montgomery’s eighth on the season.
LVC made it 2-0 when Boger found the back of the net with Sapienza collecting his second helper of the day. Boger’s goal was his second of the season. Sapienza now has 21 points on the season (eight goals, five assists) good for second on the team.
Albright scored its lone goal when Matthew Zimmerman scored with 13 minutes left in the first half.
Junior goalkeeper Christian Koch (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) made five saves on the day for his 11th win on the season. Albright keeper Ryan Manbeck made 11 saves in defeat.
The Flying Dutchmen received the third seed in the Commonwealth playoffs and will take on second-seeded Messiah on Wednesday. Game time is to be announced.
