Women’s Soccer Drops a 2-1 Decision to Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – LVC’s women’s soccer team dropped a closely-contested Commonwealth match, 2-1, at Moravian College Saturday afternoon. The loss was the Valley’s second straight and first in conference play.

The Greyhounds (8-3-1 overall, 2-1 Commonwealth) struck early on a goal by Erica Napoli on Moravian’s first shot of the match three minutes in.
 
Lebanon Valley (7-4 overall, 2-1 Commonwealth) responded with a goal in the 67th minute when first-year student Katie Lamplugh (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) scored on a pass from junior Katie Altemose (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) for her team-leading eighth goal of the season. With the assist, Altemose moved into first on LVC’s all-time scoring list with 67 career points. Robyn LaRosa ’02 and senior Dawn Rumbley (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) each had 66 points for the previous record.

Moravian’s Justina Bria hammered home the game-winning goal in the 78th minute on a pass from Megan Collins to send LVC home with the loss.

Jess Conrad (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) made three saves in defeat.

Jill Vaccaro stopped eight shots for the Greyhounds, who out-shot LVC 11-10.

The Valley returns to play on Wednesday afternoon as they take on Alvernia College in a non-conference contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
