Volleyball Downs Albright in Commonwealth Finale

READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women’s volleyball team kept its Commonwealth Conference playoffs hopes alive after defeating Albright College 3-1 in the Flying Dutchmen’s conference finale Wednesday evening.

LVC (23-10) wrapped up its Commonwealth schedule with a 4-3 record and will hope to earn one of the two remaining spots in the upcoming conference tournament. Juniata and Moravian have already clinched a Commonwealth playoff berth.

Albright dropped to 7-20 and 0-6 in the Commonwealth.

Once again, it was first-year student Megan Brillhart (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) leading the way for the Valley. Brillhart, who entered the match leading the team with 3.38 kills per game and 0.74 blocks per game, nailed a team-high 16 kills and registered five blocks.

Sophomore Amanda Bahn (York, Pa./Spring Grove) and rookie Lexi Horstman (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) also contributed to Lebanon Valley’s offensive attack, as the pair fired up 12 kills apiece. First-year student Catherine Roth (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) distributed a season-high 61 assists while classmate Katie Feree (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) led LVC defensively with a team-high 16 digs. Junior Sherri Pursel (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) added 15 digs.

Lebanon Valley picks up its schedule on Saturday when it travels to the University of Scranton in a MAC non-conference match.
