ANNVILLE, Pa. – First-year student Melissa Shultz (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) recorded one goal and one assist as eighth-ranked Lebanon Valley blanked Arcadia University 2-0 in non-conference field hockey action Thursday evening at the LVC Field Hockey Stadium.
Shultz scored her second collegiate goal on a breakaway to give the Valley (10-3) a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. Nine minutes into the second half, she picked up her first career assist when she delivered a sharp pass from the left wing to senior Danielle Grill (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown), who gathered the ball in front of the cage and fired it home for her seventh goal of the season.
LVC out-shot Arcadia (12-4) 27-17. First-year student Carla Reavis (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) made 11 saves in goal as the Flying Dutchmen notched their fifth shutout of the season. Kristen Realmonte stopped four shots for the Knights.
The Valley continues its non-conference schedule when it travels to No. 18 William Smith on Saturday in a 1 p.m. start.
