ANNVILLE, Pa. – Messiah scored a pair of goals in the final 12 minutes and the sixth-ranked Falcons remained undefeated after a 2-0 Commonwealth Conference victory over Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field.
Messiah, which recorded its fifth straight shutout, moved its record to 12-0 and 3-0 in the Commonwealth while LVC fell to 8-5 and 2-2 in conference play.
The Falcons broke open a scoreless tie in the 79th minute when Hannah Levesque assisted Erin Benedict for her seventh goal of the season. Mindy Miller put the match out of reach in the 88th minute when she punched in her 10th goal of the year off an assist from Jamie Davies.
Maggie Futato stopped three shots in goal for her seventh shutout of the season. Jess Conrad (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) made six saves for the Valley.
Messiah out-shot LVC 9-5 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Elizabethtown College in a big Commonwealth Conference match-up beginning at 4 p.m.
