Field Hockey Beats Albright in Soaker

READING, Pa. – Lebanon Valley jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and held on in the second half to defeat Albright 3-1 on a rain-soaked Kelchner Field Thursday evening in Commonwealth Conference field hockey action.

The eighth-ranked Flying Dutchmen won for the third time in a row and for the sixth time in their last seven outings to improve to 9-2 and 3-1 in the Commonwealth. Albright fell to 4-7 and 0-3 in conference play.

LVC held a whopping advantage in both shots (28-5) and penalty corners (25-1).

Seniors Jordan Jack (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) and Jenna Micozzi (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona) each scored unassisted in the first half to give the Valley the early edge. Albright cut it to 2-1 when the Lions’ Sarah Hastings found the back of the cage just five minutes into the second stanza. But sophomore Erin Behney (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO) scored off a feed from senior Danielle Grill (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) to give LVC an insurance tally with 14:10 remaining. Behney now leads the team with eight goals on season.

LVC keeper Carla Reavis (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) stopped two shots while improving to 9-2 on the season.

The Valley takes the weekend off before returning to Commonwealth action on Tuesday, when the Dutchmen visit 12th-ranked Susquehanna University at 4 p.m.
