ANNVILLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall College scored three second half goals, erasing a 1-0 halftime deficit in a 3-2 victory over Lebanon Valley in non-conference women’s soccer action Tuesday evening at Herbert Field.
With the game tied at 2-2, senior Heather Rice scored on a breakaway for the game-winning goal. Rice raced down the left side of the field and LVC keeper Jess Conrad (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) rushed out to meet her. The two players collided and Rice recovered to quickly tap the loose ball into an open goal.
Lebanon Valley (7-3) opened the scoring in the 15th minute when first-year student Katie Lamplugh (Hatboro, Pa./Upper Moreland) drilled home a shot inside the box following a corner pass from Renee Kitchenman (Feasterville, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
Junior Kelly Kennedy evened things up in the 51st minute for Franklin & Marshall (8-1) when she scored off an assist from junior Tricia Del Monaco. Five minutes later, the Diplomats took a 2-1 lead on an unassisted goal by Del Monaco.
In the 62nd minute, junior Katie Altemose (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) assisted classmate Amber Spell (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) to tie the match at 2-2. With the assist, Altemose moved into a three-way tie with Robyn LaRosa ’02 and Dawn Rumbley (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) for the LVC all-time scoring record with 66 career points.
Conrad recorded three saves for the Dutchmen but left the game with an injury following F&M’s game-winning goal. Junior Stacey Delano (Minotola, N.J./Buena Regional) played the final 11:45 between the pipes and did not have a save.
Sophomore Melissa Ruff stopped six shots for the Diplomats, who out-shot LVC 9-7.
