Shaylene Scheib '07 enters her sixth year as an assistant coach with the LVC track & field program, focusing primarily on throwing events.
In her first season in 2008-09, Scheib mentored several outstanding throwers, including ECAC javelin qualifiers Clint Surgeoner and Amanda Knapp. In 2012, Scheib helped a resurgence for women's throwers as the Dutchmen scored in four events and won two medals at MAC Outdoor Championships while qualifying three for ECAC championships. The success continued in 2013 as LVC women's throwers earned four MAC medals. In 2014, shot putter Mariah Smolka qualified for NCAA Championships after breaking multiple program records indoors and outdoors.
A former thrower for the Dutchmen, Scheib was a four-year varsity athlete in the discus, hammer, and shot put who qualified for MAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships all four years. Scheib appears on the LVC top 10 lists for the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer events.
