Box Score

WINCHESTER, Va.
- A big defensive effort by the Dutchmen held Shenandoah to just one goal in each half as LVC improved to 4-1 with a 7-2 win on Wednesday.

Ryan Lanigan set a program single-game record with seven caused turnovers to match nine ground balls in a dominating defensive performance by Lebanon Valley. Goalkeeper Mike Moll, fresh off being named the Commonwealth Conference defensive player of the week, made eight saves to earn the win.

Alex Beard and Matt Roupe each scored twice to pace the offense. Scott Sutton had another big game, winning 8-of-12 face-offs.

LVC led 34-22 on shots, but the key was in the midfield as the Dutchmen disrupted 10 of the Hornets' 30 clear attempts.

The Dutchmen took a 2-0 lead in the first quarter off goals by Beard and CJ Adams, and Sean Foley extended it to 3-0 in the second before the Hornets (0-7) got on the board with 18 seconds remaining thanks to Sean Mack.

Two more goals by Beard and Roupe extended the lead to 5-1, but SU's Bryan Pope scored at the horn in the third. Roupe and Matt Aldridge secured the win with fourth-quarter goals.

Lebanon Valley returns home Saturday to host La Roche at 3 p.m. in the second game of a women's/men's doubleheader.
