ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College has been selected fourth in the preseason poll of MAC football coaches, it was announced Wednesday.
LVC, which finished fourth last year at 6-4/4-3 MAC, earned 36 votes to place fourth in the poll. Delaware Valley, ranked in the top 10 nationally in several polls, was the favorite of the MAC coaches with 57 points and seven first place votes.
Lycoming, which earned the MAC's NCAA bid last year, earned 46 votes and a first-place nod for second, and Albright was a vote behind in third. Those two teams tied with DVC to share the MAC championship in 2008, with Lycoming earning the NCAA berth via a tiebreaker.
Widener (35 points) was a vote behind LVC in fifth, and Wilkes (33 points) was close behind in sixth. King's (20 points) and FDU-Florham (15 points) rounded out the poll.
The tight vote mirrors last year's MAC standings, which featured the three-way tie for the title and two more teams - LVC and Wilkes - just a game behind.
