LVC baseball's all-time hits, RBI, games played, games started, and total bases leader, John Mentzer was one of the best to suit up for the Dutchmen. In 2007, he was named the MAC Player of the Year and landed on the All-Conference First Team. He ranked 13th in NCAA DIII in RBI (54) and had the second-longest Division III hitting streak for the year at 31 consecutive games. In 2008, he earned Second Team All-Conference recognition and became just the third player in program history to hit for the cycle. For his efforts, he was named to the MAC All-Century Team. Mentzer was also a three-year starter between the pipes for LVC's men's soccer team. He ranks sixth all-time in saves, fourth in wins, and fourth in shutouts.
