ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College held its 69th Annual All-Sports Reception on Sunday evening, April 29 at Sorrentino Gymnasium, awarding year-end accolades and team MVP honors as LVC's senior student-athletes were recognized for their achievements.
Â
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Team of the Year honors went to men's basketball and women's tennis to lead the major awards.
Â
Men's basketball won the program's first outright conference championship in 23 years and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in more than a decade.
Sam Light earned an all-America honorable mention nod and
Andy Orr was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American. The squad as a whole was pegged the NABC Division III National Team of the Week in January.

Women's tennis won 14 matches last spring, finished undefeated against MAC Commonwealth opposition in the regular season, and earned the top seed in the conference's championship tournament before bowing out in the MAC Commonwealth Championship match.
Joy Graeff was named the conference's coach of the year and
Marla Scacchitti was tabbed second-team all-conference.

Lou Sorrentino Co-Outstanding Male Athlete Award –
Sam Light (men's basketball) and
Andy Orr (men's basketball)
Sam Light and
Andy Orr will go down as one of the most dynamic duos in LVC history. Light capped his senior campaign with a D-III News All-America Honorable Mention nod after becoming the program's second-highest leading scorer with 2,097 career points. He was the MVP of the MAC Commonwealth Championship Game and earned First-Team All-Region honors from the NABC, D3hoops.com, and the ECAC. Orr became the first player in program history to score 1,900 points and collect 900 rebounds for his career. He was named a CoSIDA Third-Team Academic All-American and was just the third player to be named a Jostens Trophy Top-10 Finalist. He earned the MAC's highest academic and athletic honor when he was pegged the conference's men's basketball senior scholar-athlete of the year and he picked up Second-Team All-Region recognition from the NABC, D3hooops.com, and the ECAC.

Outstanding Female Athlete Award –
Emma Jones (women's lacrosse)
After earning IWLCA Second-Team All-Region honors two years in a row,
Emma Jones continued her outstanding play during her senior campaign. She finished the regular season as the team's leading scorer with 55 goals and she added seven assists to tally 62 total points on the spring. She also leads the team with 56 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers to go along with 28 ground balls. She is a two-time MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First-Teamer and thanks to her efforts, the women's lacrosse team secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference championship tournament for the first time in program history.

Hon. Judge John A. Walter Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Awards –
Nate Gibbons (men's soccer) and
Meghan Ross (women's soccer)
The Walter Awards, given to LVC's top male and female senior scholar-athletes, went to
Nate Gibbons and
Meghan Ross. Gibbons wrapped up his four-year career by earning CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for the second year in a row. He helped lead the Dutchmen to back-to-back ECAC Division III Championships, he was named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team, and he became the most recent LVC student-athlete to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. A Physics and Mathematics double major, he holds a 3.96 cumulative GPA.

Ross emerged as one of LVC's top offensive weapons during her senior season. She led the team with seven assists on the year and added five goals to total 17 points. She tied the program record for most assists in a game with five in a victory over Marywood and recorded a hat trick in a win over conference foe Lycoming. For her efforts, she earned a MAC Commonwealth Honorable Mention nod for the second time in her career. An Early Childhood Education and Special Education major, she holds a 3.79 cumulative GPA.

Chuck Maston Memorial Award –
Cam Avery (men's soccer)
The Chuck Maston Award, the oldest continuous award given by LVC, is awarded to a male student-athlete who displays the ideals of sportsmanship, determination, and achievement.
Cam Avery, a senior goalkeeper for the men's soccer team, earned the award for the second consecutive year. He has embodied the award's ideals through a number of endeavors, including working as a Valley Ambassador, the director of health promotions of LVC's CURE Clinic, and a campus tutor. He also earned MAC Commonwealth Second-Team All-Conference honors for the third year in a row and was a United Soccer Coaches (USC) Scholar All-Region selection this fall. He helped guide the Dutchmen to their second consecutive ECAC Division III Championship and picked up ECAC All-Tournament honors in the process. He holds a 3.68 cumulative GPA as a Physical Therapy major.

Women's Sportsmanship Award –
Sarah Grow (women's cross country, women's track & field)
Sarah "Tilly" Grow earned the Women's Sportsmanship Award, which like the Maston Award is given to the female student-athlete who best represents Lebanon Valley College through sportsmanship, determination, and a love of sport. A member of the women's cross country and track & field programs, Grow was named to the MAC Sportsmanship Team this past fall. She was one of the cross country team's most consistent performers this season before earning indoor track & field bronze as a member of LVC's DMR and 4x800m relay teams. She is a multiple-time MAC Academic Honor Roll honoree and one of the most highly respected student-athletes on campus.

LVC Athletic Service Award –
Marla Scacchitti (women's tennis)
Marla Scacchitti earned the LVC Service Award, which recognizes the outstanding charitable and service contributions made by a student-athlete or group to make the community a better place. In addition to leading the Dutchmen to the No. 2 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament after earning all-conference second-team honors last spring, she has coordinated a number of charitable events both as a member of the women's team and in surrounding communities. The senior is especially involved with organizations focused on raising cancer awareness, in particular, LVC's Colleges Against Cancer (CAC).

John Zola Memorial Award –
Tyler Conlon (football)
This award, established in memory of John Zola, a football player who was fatally injured during a game in 1961, is given to a student-athlete who plays the game with courage, heart, and integrity. A three-time varsity letter winner,
Tyler Conlon earned the 2018 honor, as voted on by his teammates. After making the move from defensive end to defensive tackle for his senior season, he logged extra hours in the weight room to prepare for the change. His hard work paid off, as he recorded 20 total tackles this fall, including 0.5 TFL, to go along with a pass breakup.

In addition, 15 Dutchmen earned Distinguished Athlete accolades for earning eight varsity letters or receiving regional and/or national honors, while an impressive 77 student-athletes received LVC Scholar-Athlete recognition for being a junior, senior, or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
