ANNVILLE, Pa. – Since the creation of the program less than four months ago, Lebanon Valley esports has assimilated well to the rigors of its counterparts in LVC's other 25 athletic programs. Rosters were filled. Matches were contested. Now, for the first time, the program turns its attention to the recruiting trail.

So far, so good, as the esports program has secured its first-ever recruit for the fall of 2018 in Mechanicsburg, Pa. native Cade Kassay. He will begin his academic and athletic career at the College next semester as a Digital Communications major.

"Lebanon Valley College and the esports program has a wonderful community surrounding it," said Kassay. "It's full of great staff, students, and an amazing atmosphere. That's why I have decided to make LVC my new home starting in the fall. I'm beyond excited to be a Dutchman and I'm even more excited to be a part of this team."

A Counterstrike, Hearthstone, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft player, Kassay began his gaming career at a young age. He first picked up a controller after watching his father play Halo on the original Xbox console and his passion for gaming continued to grow. His dad helped him build his own gaming computer and his love for PC games blossomed. He took the final steps towards his current skill level when he moved from casually competing with friends to playing competitively.

Kassay will join hundreds of other prospective Lebanon Valley College students at the College's annual LVC Live event this Saturday, March 17.

LVC's Hearthstone squad is currently competing in a national tournament, while the school's Overwatch team continues to gear up for its season next fall.
