ANNVILLE, Pa. – Thanks to an historic performance in Lebanon Valley's MAC Commonwealth Championship victory, Sam Light has been named the conference's men's basketball player of the week for the third time.
 
In one of the more memorable playoff performances in program history, the senior helped lead the Flying Dutchmen (18-9) to their first outright conference title since 1995 and the ninth conference championship in team history. He netted a game-high 35 points on 11-of-18 shooting in Saturday's 70-68 victory at longtime rival Albright, including finishing a stout 7-of-10 from 3-point territory to go along with six rebounds and a pair of steals. Light was named MAC Commonwealth Championship MVP for his efforts.
 
The team captain added 17 tallies, a game-high five assists, five rebounds, and a game-best four steals in a thrilling 76-75 overtime win against Lycoming in the conference tournament's semifinal round on Wednesday night. Light netted a pair of game-winning free throws with five seconds remaining to seal the victory.
 
The Dutchmen continue their postseason run in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament on Friday night. LVC takes on No. 18 Middlebury at regional host Eastern Connecticut State at 5:30 p.m.
