Light, Orr Earn NABC All-District Accolades

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lebanon Valley junior men's basketball players Sam Light and Andy Orr have been named Second-Team All-Middle-Atlantic selections by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Light and Orr join Christopher Newport's Tim Daly and Marcus Carter as the only pair of teammates to be included on the region's all-district squad. They also join former LVC players Anthony Trautman and Joe Meehan as just the second pair of Flying Dutchmen to earn NABC All-District recognition in the same season.

For Light, it is his first career all-region honor. The dynamic guard won the 2016-17 MAC Commonwealth Scoring Title with a 22.4 points-per-game average en route to earning first-team all-conference honors for the second consecutive season. He was recently named an ECAC South First-Team All-Star in addition to earning a spot on the City of Basketball Love (CoBL) All-Area Second-Team.

In addition to his league-leading scoring output, Light ranked third in the MAC Commonwealth with 63 three-pointers made and fourth in the conference with a free throw percentage of .816. The junior also pulled in 4.1 rebounds per contest to go along with his team-leading 1.4 steals-per-game average. He currently ranks 13th in the nation with 605 total points scored and 16th in the country in points per game. His 46-point performance in a win at Albright this season was the fifth-highest single-game scoring output in program history. Light earned MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week honors on two occasions, was named the ECAC South Player of the Week on Feb. 7, and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week following his impressive showing against Albright.

Orr was recently named to the D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second-Team and the CoBL All-Area Third-Team after earning MAC Commonwealth First-Team All-Conference honors last month. The team captain has also excelled in the classroom and was recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 Team. For the versatile big man, his most recent accolade is the fourth all-region honor of his career.

Orr scored 18.8 points per game during the most recent campaign, good enough to rank third in the MAC Commonwealth. The D3hoops.com and D-III News Preseason All-American turned in another strong season after being named the ECAC South Player of the Year and MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year last winter. He ranked second in the conference with an 8.4 rebounds-per-game average and his 34 minutes played per game were fifth among league players. He ranked sixth in the MAC Commonwealth with a .500 field goal percentage and his 1.2 blocks per contest were good enough to rank fourth in the conference.

Earlier this season, Orr and Light became the 35th and 36th players in program history to surpass the 1,000-point mark for their careers, respectively.
