Brad McAlester has announced that seniors
Will Boccanfuso,
Brett Gilbert,
Sam Light, and
Andy Orr have been named team captains for the upcoming 2017-18 men's basketball season.

Boccanfuso will serve as a two-year team captain after holding the same position last winter. The forward started all 26 games in which he appeared and averaged 5.7 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field. He ranked second among Dutchmen with a 3.8 rebounds per game average and 34 steals. Scored a season-high 19 points at Alvernia last December and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds against Misericordia in November. He was named LVC's Judge John Walter Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

One of the team's most dangerous shooters, Gilbert appeared in 10 games as a junior last season. The guard scored a season-high six points in a victory over Widener in November and was named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll for his performance in the classroom.

Light was stellar during his junior campaign last winter. He was named NABC All-Middle Atlantic Second-Team and an ECAC South First-Team All-Star, while earning spots on the CoBL All-Area Second-Team and MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First-Team for the second year in a row. He scored a career-high 46 points in a win at Albright in February – the fifth-highest single-game point total in program history – and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for his efforts. He was also pegged the ECAC South Player of the Week in February and was a two-time MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week. He appeared in all 27 games as a junior, starting 25 of them and became the 36th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point scoring mark for his career. The shooting guard won the MAC Commonwealth Scoring Title with a 22.4 points per game average, while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor. He led the team with 63 made 3-pointers (2.3 per game) and 38 steals (1.4 per game), while getting to the foul line 7.3 times per contest and shooting 81.6 percent from the charity stripe. Light was named the team's 2016-17 Co-MVP and earned the 2016 Rinso Marquette Tournament MVP Award.

Another player who will serve as a two-year captain, Orr continued his outstanding collegiate career with a memorable junior season in 2016-17. He was named to the NABC All-Middle Atlantic Second-Team, the D3hoops.com All-Region Second-Team, the CoBL All-Area Third-Team, and the MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First-Team for the second year in a row. Â Thanks to his academic prowess, he earned CoSIDA Academic All-District, MAC Academic All-Conference, and MAC Academic Honor Roll recognition. He started all 27 games at center last winter and became the 35th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point mark for his career. Orr Led the team with 8.4 rebounds per game and 30 total blocks and ranked second among Dutchmen with an 18.8 points per game scoring average. He shot 50 percent from the field and 48.4 percent from beyond the arc and netted a season-high 32 points against Misericordia in November. He recorded eight double-doubles on the season and was named the team's 2016-17 Co-MVP.

The Dutchmen won 16 games a year ago and advanced to the semifinal round of the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament. LVC begins its 2017-18 campaign at Cairn on Nov. 15.
