Adams, Patrick Named Academic All-Americans

ANNVILLE, Pa. – It was announced today that Lebanon Valley's Cynthia Adams `14, DPT 16 and Kelsey Patrick have been named CoSIDA/Capital One Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-Americans. For Adams, it is her third consecutive selection while Patrick's is her second straight.

To be eligible for academic all-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.

Adams closes out one of the most illustrious athletic careers in school history with a CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America First-Team nod, her third consecutive academic all-America honor after being named second-team all-America a year ago and third-team all-America in 2013.

In March, she won LVC's first-ever track and field national championship, just the second national title in school history, with an 800m victory at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, capping her career as a three-time all-American in the event. Across both indoor and outdoor seasons, she qualified for six NCAA championships overall. In conference competition, she was an undefeated 12-time MAC champion in the 800m, mile, and 1500m, in addition to earning numerous relay gold medals. Adams was the 2014 MAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and 2011 Outdoor Rookie of the Year.

In addition to her outstanding achievements on the track, Adams has also earned a bevy of academic honors during her career, including spots on the 2014 and 2013 Academic All-America squads and 2015, 2014, and 2013 Capital One Academic All-District teams, six MAC Academic Honor Roll spots, and two MAC Academic All-Conference awards. As she pursues her doctorate in physical therapy, Adams currently holds a 3.61 GPA.

Patrick earned a spot on the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Second-Team following an outstanding junior campaign after being named an academic all-America third-team selection a year ago.

She earned a silver medal as the MAC cross country runner-up at the conference's championship meet last fall and was a USTFCCCA All-Region selection for the third time in her career as she qualified for NCAA Championships. The junior was 12th at the NCAA regional meet in November and a three-time MAC Runner of the Week this past season.

Patrick has also excelled as a member of LVC's physical therapy program, earning a 3.93 in the major through her junior year. She was named a CoSIDA/Capital One All-District team honoree late last month after earning MAC Academic All-Conference and MAC Academic Honor Roll status after the 2014 season ended in the fall.
