Six M. Basketball Alumni Named To MAC All-Century Teams

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley was well-represented on the Middle Atlantic Conference's all-century men's basketball teams, placing six former stars on the roster.

LVC's honorees are Don Johnson '73, Don Hostetler '88, Mike Rhoades '95, Andy Panko '99, Steve Horst '01, and J.D. Byers '05.

Individuals were selected to seven different teams covering various eras of MAC athletics as the conference celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2012-13. The teams were picked by a combination of voting by fans as MAC sports information directors.

Johnson, selected to the 1967-74 team, graduated as LVC's all-time leading scorer with 1,976 points and 863 rebounds, both of which today rank third in program history. He earned NABC all-America honors in 1972-73 as LVC won a MAC title.

Hostetler scored 1,299 points in his career to be named to the 1983-87 team. He was an all-MAC honoree in 1987 for the Dutchmen.

Rhoades led LVC to the 1994 NCAA national title, scoring a then-record 2,050 career points. The 1994-95 National Player of the Year was a two-time all-American and three-time MAC Player of the Year, and is still LVC's all-time assists leader with 668.

Panko was a two-time National Player of the Year and three-time All-American, scoring a school-record 2,515 points as a Dutchman from 1995 to 1999. He was a three-time MAC Player of the Year and is fourth in LVC history with 827 rebounds.

Horst was an NABC All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, and two-time all-region pick as the 2000-01 Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year.  His 1,608 career points are seventh at LVC and his 637 boards are sixth.

Byers was a 2004-05 first-team all-American and the 2005 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year. The two-time CC Player of the Year scored 1,898 career points, and he is LVC's three-point recordholder with 301.
