CHESTER, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's soccer team could not convert on 13 shots and nine corner-kick opportunities, falling to Widener on Wednesday evening in Chester, 3-0.

The loss makes the final weekend of soccer very interesting as every game on Saturday has playoff implications. A win and help is likely necessary for LVC to find itself in postseason play.

Just 11 minutes into the contest, Widener's Matt Parrotta fed Grant Shaffer at the top of the box and he slotted a shot past the outstretched arms of LVC senior goalkeeper Brian Frasca for the early 1-0 lead.

Just before the end of the half, an LVC foul just outside the 18 set up an in-close free-kick opportunity for the Pride. Widener's Max Reid tapped it to Tori Remondelli, who sent it inside the right post and into the back of the net to send the Pride into the half with a 2-0 lead.

The final Widener goal came from Shaffer winning a 50/50 ball in the middle and setting up Matt Parrotta with a beautiful through ball, allowing him to finish to seal the game's fate at 3-0 in the 77th minute.

LVC held a 13-12 edge in shots and a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks on the night as senior Brian Frasca took the loss in his first start of the year, making six saves in net. Junior Kevin Doty led the offense with four shots, while sophomore Cam Alexander and senior Garth Stefan tallied two shots apiece.

The Valley takes on Alvernia on Senior Day on Saturday for a possible chance to extend its season at Herbert Field at 3 p.m.
