LEBANON, Pa. - The Lebanon Valley College ice hockey team got an early jump on fundraising efforts for its third annual Military Appreciation Night with a generous $5,000 donation from the Navy Club of Lebanon - Ship No. 91.
"Ship 91, Navy Club, USA is grateful for groups like the LVC men's ice hockey team who are supportive of our veterans," said Priscilla Ebright on behalf of the club. "Representatives of Ship 91, Navy Club, USA will be presenting the $5,000 check to the LVC team during the Military Appreciation hockey game in October."
To thank club members for their generosity, head coach
Don Parsons, Matt Turner,
Tyler Skroski,
Keith Lear, and
Jimmy McNally made an appearance at the club's meeting Wednesday night. Parsons and his team spoke about how the fundraiser originally started, their efforts to date, and what's in store for this season's Military Appreciation Night.
“It was an honor to be among the veterans of Ship 91, Navy Club last night," Parsons said. "You can tell how proud they are, knowing that they served the United States for our freedom. Their donation of $5,000 is proof that they still are very eager to help in any way they possibly can.”
In its first two seasons, the game has raised over $35,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. This season's game is scheduled for Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. against the U.S. Naval Academy.
