WEST LAWN, Pa. - Lebanon Valley was stymied at the plate despite an impressive day in the field.  The Dutchmen were held to just three hits in a 2-0 loss to top-seeded Alvernia on day two of the Commonwealth Conference tournament.

The loss effectively ends a season in which the Dutchmen overcame some preseason expectations and earned the two-seed in the tournament.

Derek Brousseau (4-4) pitched the complete game, allowing Alvernia's two runs on eight hits. He allowed a hit per inning but didn't walk a batter.

Phill Dohner and Lee Webber picked up hits early on for the Dutchmen (24-18) - both singles - before the team was shut down and held hitless through the next  five innings.

The Crusaders (29-11-1) scored first in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by rightfielder Rory Clemens. The added a run in the seventh on an RBI single by third baseman Chris Gehris.

Aaron Mills added LVC's final hit with none out in the ninth.

The Dutchmen had not reached the tournament since 2009 and were picked to finish fifth in the preseason coaches poll this year. They were one of just two Commonwealth Conference teams to beat Alvernia during the regular season.
