ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore setter
Kacey Musselman was named to the All-Commonwealth Conference first team Saturday, capping a season in which she led the Dutchmen in a number of key statistics and helped propel the team to 19 wins.
Musselman led the team in services aces and digs with 56 and 398, respectively. She came through even bigger in the stat for which the team most relies on her with 981 assists.
"What Kacey lacks in height, she makes up for with foot speed, quickness, and great jumping ability," head coach Wayne Perry said. "But the key to her success is because she plays in matches just like she practices - every point, every ball is total effort. Over the past two seasons she has amazed us with the plays she makes purely on determination. On balls where other setters would be yelling for help, Kacey runs them down and hand sets."
Her best match of the season came at Elizabethtown on Oct. 3, where she recorded a triple-double with 10 kills, 43 assists, and 21 digs. For good measure, she added five aces.
At her current rate, Musselman will have a chance to catch Cat Roth for LVC's
all-time assists record (5,527). Between her first two seasons, she has amassed 2,209 assists and has already helped lead the team to a conference title last season. She is now a two-time first team selection.
"I'm proud of the way she leads the team on the court and I'm more than pleased that she has earned the respect of so many college coaches and players," Perry said.
