ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College football coach
Jim Monos has named his captains for the 2012 season, with
Sam Colletts,
Nate Kauffman,
Leo Kyte, and
Kevin Smith being chosen to lead the team next fall.
They will captain a program that has gone to three consecutive postseason appearances with a 23-10 record in the past three seasons.
Colletts started at center as a junior in 2011 to earn first-team all-MAC and first-team all-ECAC honors. He helped LVC average 200 rushing yards per game and 4.7 yards per rush while allowing only 14 sacks in 11 games, the second-fewest in the MAC.
Kauffman started 10 games at free safety as a junior, racking up 47 tackles with three for a loss. He broke up six passes and also forced and recovered a fumble.
Kyte served as the back-up quarterback on LVC's depth chart as a junior, appearing in seven games. He completed 10 of 16 pass attempts for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Smith had a breakout sophomore season at nose tackle, taking over the starting spot midseason and ranking second on the team in tackles with 65. He had 3.5 stops for a loss with 2.5 sacks, and also forced a fumble and batted down a pass.
