Horacek Steps Down As LVC Ice Hockey Coach

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College ice hockey head coach Tony Horacek has resigned from his position at the College, athletic director Rick Beard '90 M'92 has announced.

Horacek, who leaves LVC for personal reasons, helped turn around the program as he guided the Dutchmen to a 21-6 record as they made the transition to the ACHA in 2010-11. LVC finished fourth nationally among independent teams and was represented at the ACHA All-Star game by points-leader Brad Surdam.

"I want to thank Tony and wish him all the best in the future," Beard said. "He did a great job in guiding LVC ice hockey through its first season in the ACHA."

The former Hershey Bear and Philadelphia Flyer was in his first collegiate coaching assignment after several years as a youth and high school coach in the area.

A search has begun for Horacek's replacement.
