Guiles, Homer Named d3football.com All-Americans

MINNEAPOLIS - Lebanon Valley College defensive end Cory Homer and running back Ben Guiles have been named all-Americans by d3football.com, capping off outstanding careers for the Dutchmen.

Homer earned a Third-Team All-America slot, while Guiles was named Honorable Mention All-America. Both were named d3football.com first-team all-East earlier in December after leading the Dutchmen to an 8-3 season and the ECAC South-West Bowl title.

It is the first time since 2000 that a pair of LVC teammates have appeared on the d3football.com all-America list, when Sean Berwager and Pete Henning also earned honors. Homer and Guiles are the 10th and 11th all-Americans in program history, with five of those coming in the past three seasons.

Homer was the ECAC South-West Bowl Most Outstanding Player and first-team all-Middle Atlantic Conference after ranking second in the league with 108 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 20.5 tackles for loss in 2011. His best game came on senior day against King's when had a school-record 5.5 sacks, and he followed that up with an 11-tackle, 3.0-sack performance against Saint Vincent in the ECAC Bowl. He had seven 10+ tackle games during the year.

Guiles had a superlative senior season as the Middle Atlantic Conference's Offensive Player of the Year. He ran for a MAC-best 1,226 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior to become LVC's all-time leading rusher and scorer. Averaging 6.4 yards per carry, he has eight 100-yard games, including a season-high 208 yards against Wilkes. A versatile threat, Guiles has also caught three touchdown passes with 243 yards receiving. He ranked fifth in NCAA Division III in scoring with 12 points per game and 24th in rushing at 111.5 yards per game.
