ANNVILLE, Pa. - As a team, the Lebanon Valley volleyball squad won its fourth consecutive Commonwealth Conference title this season. For their leadership roles,
Jamie Hawk was named player of the year, and
Kacey Musselman was named rookie of the year.
Hawk, Musselman and
Kellsie Groff have all been named to the all-conference teams.
Hawk is a three-time Commonwealth player of the week who has led the Dutchmen with 387 kills this season. She is averaging 3.46 kills per set at a .315 hitting percentage heading into the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. She was named tournament most valuable player after leading LVC to its fourth straight title with 20 kills in the semifinals and 11 more in the finals at Messiah.
Musselman is a two-time player of the week with her most recent award coming on Oct. 17. She has 1,179 assists this season—the highest total for an LVC freshman since 2002. It ranks eighth all-time for any Dutchman setter. She was also second on the team with 306 digs this season and second in service aces with 37.
Groff was an all-around player this season. She's second on the team in kills with 194 and third in aces with 30. She was also a force on the back line with 277 digs. She had a season-high 20 kills in the Commonwealth semifinals against Widener.
The Dutchmen are set to face Mount Union at Neumann College on Friday in the regional round. The two teams met in regionals in 2009, where LVC lost, 3-1 (25-17, 25-27, 23-25, 12-25).
