Inductees to the Hall of Fame, established in 1976, are selected by the LVC Athletic Alumni Committee based on outstanding athletic achievements during their LVC careers. Nominees must have been away from the College for 10 years to be eligible.
Lt. Marcel von Bereghy '16 - Football, Track & Field, Men's Basketball
A three-sport athlete in the formative years of LVC athletics, Marcel von Bereghy was, at the time, one of the best student-athletes ever produced by the Valley. His track & field marks persisted on LVC's top-10 list for decades, with his shot put record of 43-9 standing in the top 10 for 92 years, until 2006. He was one of the first MAC champions when he won the discus and shot put competitions at the second Middle States meet in 1914, setting conference records in both events. He was a three-year team captain in track & field, and also won four letters in football and one in basketball.
After graduation in June 1916, von Bereghy joined the Pennsylvania National Guard, and enlisted for active duty when the United States entered World War I. He was transferred to Europe in 1918, and on Sept. 6, 1918, he was seriously wounded while leading his men over the top in France. He died of his wounds, and was awarded the World War I Victory Medal and the World War I Victory Button (bronze). His obituary in the Harrisburg Patriot-News called him "undoubtedly the best all-around athlete that was ever turned out of Harrisburg."
Ann Musser Davis '00 - Women's Track & Field
Elected in her first year of eligibility, Ann Musser Davis was a five-time All-American thrower for Lebanon Valley College in the late 1990's. A decade after graduating, Davis still holds five school records: the outdoor shot put (43-0 1/2), discus (146-5), and hammer (131-11), and indoor shot put (43-11 3/4) and weight throw (48-7 1/4). She was a 10-time NCAA qualifier and 11-time MAC champion over her career, and was the first female student-athlete in MAC history to earn four career gold medals in a single event. Davis' five All-America honors (Two in the indoor shot put, two discus, and one outdoor shot put) included a national runner-up finish in the discus as a sophomore, and no student-athlete in any sport in LVC history has earned as many All-America awards.
Erin Schmid Sanno '98 - Field Hockey
One of LVC's all-time leading scorers, Erin Schmid Sanno was an All-American who led the Dutchmen to three NCAA tournaments and two final fours during the late '90s. With 43 career goals and 20 assists, she graduated third on the all-time points list and currently sits ninth all-time with 106, one of only nine Dutchmen to cross the century mark. She captained the 1997 MAC championship team that made a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Final Four, earning MAC Player of the Year and NCAA All-Tournament team honors.
After graduation, Sanno began coaching field hockey and was an assistant coach at LVC for two seasons while staying involved in the U.S. Futures program for over a decade as head and assistant coach. She currently works as assistant director of admissions for LVC.
Andrea Stetler Teats '97 - Field Hockey
An All-American for LVC's first NCAA Final Four squad in 1996, Andrea Stetler Teats led the Dutchmen to unprecendented success over her four-year career. As a senior in 1996, Teats scored a team-high 20 goals as LVC won a then-record 16 games (including a record 12 shutouts) and made the first of the program's four NCAA Final Four appearances. That season capped a run that saw LVC qualify for the NCAA Tournament three times in four years. After her senior year, Teats was named third-team all-America, first-team all-region, and first-team all-MAC, and was also named to the NCAA Final Four team. She also holds the LVC record for the fastest hat trick, with three goals in the first minute against Haverford in 1996.
Following graduation, Teats continued to play, and was earned the Outstanding Amateur Athletic Achievement Award at the 2004 Keystone State Games. She has been involved in coaching high school,
Keystone, and Futures programs, including as head coach at Midd-West High School, where she is a geography teacher.
Mark Sypher '81 - Men's Basketball/Track & Field
Mark Sypher was an eight-letter, two-sport athlete for the LVC men's basketball and track & field teams. A triple-jumper, Sypher set the school record at 44-3 in 1979, a mark that stood until 1989 and today is still fifth all-time. He earned all-MAC honors in 1980, as well. On the basketball court, Sypher was a team captain and three-year starter, and he earned LVC's Chuck Maston Award as a senior.
He has owned Sypher Construction for over 20 years, and has remained active in sports with local youth teams. In recent years, Sypher has been involved in motorsports, and is the owner of TCS Racing, which has an entry in the NASCAR Whelen Modified series.
