CHESTER, Pa. - The women's 4x800 relay earned a bronze medal and the men's 4x800 set a school record while placing fifth to lead Lebanon Valley on the opening day of the 2010 MAC Outdoor Championships at Widener University on Thursday.
With only a three scoring events in the books on the first of three days of competition, the LVC women are in sixth place with six team points, and the men are in fifth with nine.
In the inaugural running of the 4x800 relay at MACs, the women came in third in 10:14.06. The team of
Megan Long,
Alisha Farrell,
Rachel Lindt, and
Emily Devivo finished in the second-best time in LVC history. Meanwhile, the men's 4x800 (
Matt Nesmith,
Alex Talarico, Nick D'Angelo, and
Courtland Hoose) scored points with a fifth-place 8:28.61 to top the school record of 8:35.85 from 2003.
Zach Bleiler turned in a personal-best in the hammer throw to place fourth overall at 162-9, scoring five points for the men.
Maurissa Laudeman and
Nicole Buskirk competed in the women's hammer, with Laudeman throwing a 13th-place 96-0 and Buskirk an 18th-place 82-3.
Amanda Pone finished 10th in the 10,000-meter run in 47:23.97, and
John Wallace was 11th for the men in the 10K in 33:59.39, a personal-best.
Gabriel Lincoln-Decusatis finished 21st in 36:10.64.
The championships continue Friday with a full slate of events at Widener.
