Women's Hoops Set For NCAA Tournament

Continuing its history making season, the Lebanon Valley College women's basketball team will make its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history. The Dutchmen face Medaille Friday evening in a first round matchup on the campus of Marymount University in Arlington, Va.
 
Admission is charged for the NCAA Tournament. The cost for adults is $7, students and seniors is $3, and children under two will get in free of charge.

How They Got Here                                    
LVC received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament after falling 60-55 to Messiah in the Commonwealth Conference championship. Andrea Hoover recorded a career-high 26 points, along with a team-high five steals, while Suzie Noyes posted eight points, six rebounds and two blocks in the loss. In the game prior, the Dutchmen recorded an 87-77 win over Alvernia to advance. Hoover paced LVC against Alvernia, and was four rebounds shy of a triple-double as she had 17 points, 10 assists, and six boards for her first career two-fer, while Noyes drilled 22 points, including 14-of-17 foul shooting, to lead all scorers.
 
Medaille earned an automatic bid to the tournament after defeating Pitt-Bradford, 59-52, in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference tournament championship game. Tiffany Sullivan posted a team-high 16 points, while Meghan Dougherty tallied 15 in the win. Sullivan also led the team with 10 rebounds and three steals. Medaille notched a 71-57 win in the conference semifinals over Penn State-Altoona the game before. Travis Tanisha tallied a double-double in the victory with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Kacie Mills added 15 points.
 
NCAA Tournament
The Dutchmen are making their first appearance in the NCAA tournament in school history, while the Mavericks will appear for the fourth time in five years.
 
Scouting LVC
The junior class has led the Dutchmen all season long and continue to, as all three players lead the team in scoring. Eryn Schultz maintains a team-best 13.5 points per game and 84 three-pointers made, while Suzie Noyes averages 12.4 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game and has a team-high 33 blocks. Andrea Hoover rounds out the top-three with 12.1 points per game and a team-high 146 assists. The Dutchmen hold an advantage in turnovers, with LVC committing 111 less than their opponents.
 
Scouting Medaille
The Mavericks finished the season unbeaten in conference play, marking the second time in six years they've done so. Junior Kacie Mills and classmate Amanda Sahhar were recently named to the Second Team All-AMCC Conference, and sophomore Meghan Dougherty received honorable mention accolades. Mills and Sahhar lead the team with 11.1 points per game, while Dougherty maintains 10.1 points per game. Mills also has a team-high 4.8 assists per game and 2.4 steals each contest, while Sahhar leads with 6.9 rebounds per game. Medaille has also committed 111 less turnovers than their opponents and posted 98 more steals over the season.
 
Dutchmen Accolades
LVC received three Commonwealth Conference accolades Monday, with Andrea Hoover being named Player of the Year, head coach Todd Goclowski earning Coach of the Year honors and Suzie Noyes selected to the First Team All-Commonwealth Conference team. It marked the second-straight year Hoover and Noyes were named to the all-conference teams. Hoover, who is LVC's first-ever conference player of the year, led the league with 5.41 assists per game and a 1.55 assist to turnover ratio, while ranking in the top-10 in scoring, free throw percentage, steals and minutes played in the Commonwealth Conference. Noyes leads the conference in free throw percentage, while ranking in the top 15 in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, steals and blocked shots, and Goclowski led Lebanon Valley to the Commonwealth Conference regular season title after posting a 12-2 record and making its third-straight appearance in the conference championship game. In his fourth season with the Dutchmen, Goclowski holds a 71-36 overall record.
