HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The LVC women's tennis team picked up where it left off in the fall, opening its spring schedule with a tight 5-4 win over St. Vincent in Hilton Head, S.C.

The Dutchmen (13-1) swept doubles and picked up two wins to top St. Vincent (7-10).

Sarah Grodzinski and Shayna Heintzelman defeated Megan Mahoney and Emily Morris, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, and Tamera Lobb and Lauren Fulmer topped Nicole Peer and Jessa Paruch 8-6 at No. 2. Morgan Brady and Sarah Beatty finished the doubles sweep with an 8-6 No. 3 win against Stephanie Rubin and Rebecca Cronauer.

In singles, every match went straight sets as Grodzinski beat Allie Bottie, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 and Fulmer topped Brittany Vignero 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 to clinch the match win for LVC.

Alexis Cup beat Heintzelman, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2, Morris defeated Lobb 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3, Mahoney beat Brady 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5, and Peer topped Jess Ferlenda 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.

LVC continues its spring break schedule Wednesday against Augustana.
