ANNVILLE, Pa. - Five Lebanon Valley College student-athletes have been honored by the Commonwealth Conference as Players of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The honorees are:
Chris Hall (Men's Soccer Player of the Week)
Hall scored all three of LVC's goals in a 3-2 win over Susquehanna on Wednesday. He twice tied the match for LVC as they kept rallying from behind. He finally gave LVC the lead with a goal in the 80th minute. It was his second career hat trick.
Sami Young (Women's Soccer Goalkeeper/Defender of the Week)
Young continued to be a rock in net for the Dutchmen. Last week, she made five saves in a 2-1 win over Eastern, and she also made three saves in a 1-0 loss to Haverford. Her five saves against a tough Eastern team helped LVC stay in the hunt as they found the 89th-minute game-winning goal by
Ely Kirkhoff.
Cait Eckenrode (Field Hockey Player of the Week)
Eckenrode scored four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for LVC. Against #13 Gettysburg, she had a goal and an assist to help LVC to a 5-1 win; she then scored her first career hat trick in a 4-0 victory against Arcadia on Saturday.
Caitlin Baro (Field Hockey Goalkeeper/Defender of the Week)
Baro had a fantastic game against #13 Gettysburg, making eight saves and allowing just a single goal in LVC's 5-1 win. Baro faced 11 shots in that contest. The senior also worked a shutout against Arcadia on Saturday, making a single save.
Shayna Heintzelman (Women's Tennis Player of the Week)
Heintzelman had a dominating week at No. 2 singles and No. 1/2 doubles, going 3-0 at both as LVC improved to 5-0 this season. In singles, Heintzelman surrendered just two points in three matches, and at doubles, she also went 3-0 while giving up just five points. Heintzelman is 5-0 this season at both singles and doubles.
