ANNVILLE, Pa. - The LVC women's tennis team moved to 3-0 with an 8-1 win over Penn State Harrisburg Tuesday in non-conference play.
The Dutchmen (3-0) had little trouble with the Lions (2-2), winning five of the six singles matches in straight sets after sweeping doubles.
Shayna Heintzelman and
Tamera Lobb teamed up to win No. 1 doubles, 8-3, over Lauren Hall and Jessica Kamp, and
Caitlin Bedford and
Jess Ferlenda needed a tiebreak to top Jessica Karl and Caitlin Royer, 9-8 (7-0), at No. 2. Freshmen
Sarah Beatty and
Lauren Pyle made their career debuts at No. 3, winning 8-7 over Meghin Moore and Krystal Miranda.
In singles,
Sarah Grodzinski blanked Hall, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 before Heintzelman won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 over Kamp and Lobb won by the same score at No. 3 against Karl.
Lauren Fulmer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 against Moore, and
Morgan Brady defeated Miranda, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6.
Royer secured PSUH's lone point with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Bedford at No. 4.
LVC will pick up Commonwealth Conference play Thursday at Albright.
