Four Earn CC Player of the Week Honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevi Laird (women's soccer), Joelle Snyder (volleyball), Caitlin Vasey (field hockey), and Eric Woods (men's soccer) have each been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week for their respective sports, the CC office announced Monday.

Laird capped an impressive rookie season with her first career game-winning goal in overtime as LVC downed Lycoming, 1-0, in the final match of the season. She hopped on a loose ball right in front of the 'keeper and scored just 1:39 into the extra period for the win. It was her fourth goal of the year.

Snyder, a three-time CC player of the week this year, came up big in three five-set wins for LVC last week. She compiled 44 kills over the three matches, including 18 in a 3-2 win over Elizabethtown to lock up home court in the conference championships. She hit .330 for the week with only 10 errors on 103 swings. She had 14 total blocks - including five solo stops. On Saturday, she played just as well on the back line, with nine kills in each match.

Vasey, who is the only repeat POW in the Commonwealth Conference this year after also earning it back on Oct. 5, tied an LVC program record with four assists in a game against Widener as she led LVC to a 2-0 week and the CC's #2 playoff seed. Vasey had three goals and five assists in two games. Against E-town, she scored the game's first and last goals, and also assisted on another; against Widener, the freshman had a hand in five of the six goals, assisting on four and scoring another.

Woods had his most prolific week as a collegian in the final week of the regular season, scoring a pair of goals in a 7-4 slugfest against King's College and then netting the game-winner in overtime as LVC downed Lycoming, 3-2, on the final day of the season. The win over the Warriors clinced a CC playoff berth for LVC.
