CAPE COD, Mass. - For the first time since 1951, Lebanon Valley College will get a postseason football game, and for the first time ever, it will be played at home.
The Dutchmen (8-2) will host defending champion Salisbury University (5-5) on Saturday, Nov. 21 at noon in the ECAC Southwest Bowl game at Arnold Field.
Lebanon Valley, which finished third in the Middle Atlantic Conference, has had a record-breaking season, reaching eight wins for the first time since 1902. Now, the Dutchmen will get a chance to play in their first-ever ECAC Bowl game. LVC's last postseason appearance came in the 1951 Burley Bowl against Morris-Harvey College, a 27-20 loss; the only other extra game was a 6-0 win over Tampa in the Tampa Bowl on Christmas Day 1935.
Salisbury is a member of the Atlantic Central Football Conference, and is coming off a 34-19 win over Frostburg State in the Regents Cup game on Saturday. The Seagulls won last year's ECAC Southwest Bowl 21-17 over Moravian, and they will be making their fifth ECAC appearance overall.
LVC and Salisbury have never met, and they had no common opponents this season.
